Last week a physiotherapist [and a student]from Fraser Health Home Care came out and did an assessment of my situation.
I explained my situation and what I could and could not do.
They suggested they set up an exercise program for me and looked over our home and made some suggestions to make it more accessible . They checked out the grab bars we installed in all the washrooms, the bedroom we setup for me in the living room, and where the shower was located.
They asked me to go up and come back down three stairs while they watched. They both said that going upstairs [to shower] was too dangerous. I told them we were getting a shower put in on the main floor, but it would take some time. They said Fraser Health could arrange for short term sponge baths, until we get the shower put in. So, they signed me up to get a sponge bath twice a week.
The first sponge bath was this afternoon. It was a little embarrassing, but, you got to do what you got to do.
I must say, I feel better.
Tomorrow I go for my first steroid treatment.
