Well, today was the last of the steroid treatments, with no real noticeable effects. Well, that is not entirely true. I seem to be getting all the side effects. I can't sleep at night, I have this bitter metallic taste in my mouth and I'm somewhat irritable. I think I'm doing quite well however. If you were tired and felt like you had a handful of metallic dandelions in your mouth you'd be irritable too.
I just spent 31 minutes on hold with Air Canada's medical desk to find out she couldn't do anything without the air Canada booking number my agent failed to give me. That's alright. I remembered I had just got steroids so didn't explode. I calmly to the agent that a 31 minute wait to find I was missing some number while listening about power wheel chairs to the twentieth time, which didn't add anything after the first time, was really unacceptable. Her answer.
In the most patronizing voice 'I know.'
I need a good hour of Open Arena.

Since seeing Dr. Devonshire I've contacted Fraser Health to find out what kind of services were available.
Last week a physiotherapist [and a student]from Fraser Health Home Care came out and did an assessment of my situation.
I explained my situation and what I could and could not do.
They asked me to go up and come back down three stairs while they watched. They both said that going upstairs [to shower] was too dangerous. I told them we were getting a shower put in on the main floor, but it would take some time. They said Fraser Health could arrange for short term sponge baths, until we get the shower put in. So, they signed me up to get a sponge bath twice a week.
The first sponge bath was this afternoon. It was a little embarrassing, but, you got to do what you got to do.
I must say, I feel better.
Tomorrow I go for my first steroid treatment.

They suggested they set up an exercise program for me and looked over our home and made some suggestions to make it more accessible . They checked out the grab bars we installed in all the washrooms, the bedroom we setup for me in the living room, and where the shower was located.
